Description
The Turkey 5 Lira Banknote was released by the Central Bank of Turkey in 2009. This series of notes focus and commemorates Turkey’s first large-scale working class action in the country’s history that occurred in 1970 . The purple and tan banknote features Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and a star and a crescent on the obverse. The reverse of the paper bill depicts open hands, planets, an atom, a double helix DNA chain, and a portrait of science historian Aydin Sayili. The banknote bears a holographic stripe and a solid security thread with printed TL 5. It also contains a watermark that reflects Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and an electrotype 5. It is 130 x 64 mm in size and is in uncirculated condition.
